This peptide is an analogue of the natural drug epithalamin, an effective bioregulator of the neuroendocrine system. Epithalamin has the following amino acid sequence: Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly.<\/p>\n<p>Epitalon exhibits a broad spectrum of biological activity: it induces telomere lengthening, can slow the aging process, reduce the manifestations of atherosclerosis, and improve cognitive function regardless of age. In animal studies, the drug also demonstrated anticancer activity.<\/p>\n<p>Like epithalamin, epitalon increases melatonin production by the pineal gland, as demonstrated in experiments on aged monkeys and humans. In trials, epitalon influenced nocturnal melatonin production, and its effectiveness was 500 times greater than that of epithalamin. Studies have shown that increasing the dosage does not produce significant results.
